CUHK and Sun Yat-sen University Hold Online Meeting
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) held an online meeting on 10 January. The meeting was co-chaired by Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK and Professor Gao Song, President of SYSU. Representatives joining the meeting included CUHK Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Chan Wai-Yee and Professor Lu Yu-Tong, Director of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office of SYSU.
Professor Tuan and Professor Gao gave updates on the development and recent collaboration initiatives of both universities. Discussions were held to expand the scope of collaborative projects including the area of biomedicine, precision medicine, stem cell and marine science. Both parties agreed to strengthen the collaboration in engineering disciplines as well as developing more diversified programmes in joint training of postgraduate students.
Since the establishment of partnership in 1981, CUHK has been in close partnership with SYSU in a wide range of collaborative projects including research collaboration, student interflow and academic programmes. Both universities joined hands with the University of Macau to initiate the establishment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau University Alliance in November 2016, which aims to promote regional development in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area by consolidating resources of elite universities and nurturing talents.
CUHK and Zhejiang Lab Discuss Collaborative Opportunities
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Zhejiang Lab met online on 16 February to discuss research collaboration. The meeting agreed to embark on all-round plans to establish platform for joint projects. Both parties discussed future initiatives including positioning to promote research cooperation and talent nurturing via bilateral coordination and mechanism.
CUHK and Zhejiang Lab signed a strategic collaborative framework agreement in 2021 to develop exchange activities in intelligent sciences and technologies. Zhejiang Lab is a research institute established jointly by the Zhejiang Provincial Government, Zhejiang University and Alibaba Group in 2017. Focusing on five areas including intelligent perception, artificial intelligence, intelligent computing, intelligent networks, and intelligent systems, it carries out researches on cutting-edge and fundamental topics, explores key technologies, develops core systems, and builds large-scale technology infrastructure and major research platforms.
CUHK and Xi’an Jiaotong University Meet Online to Discuss Collaborative Plans
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held online meeting on 9 March to discuss future collaboration plans. Apart from giving updated developments of both universities, the meeting focused on the new mode of collaboration and academic exchange between XJTU and CUHK in the post-epidemic era, covering areas such as research, talent cultivation and executive exchange. The directions of new collaboration projects were also discussed in the meeting.
Since the signing of academic exchange agreement in 1994, CUHK and XJTU have achieved fruitful results in research collaboration, nurturing of talents and student interflow. The two universities established the Joint Research Centre on Migration in 2018. The Centre serves as an exchange platform for researchers all over the world to conduct cross-disciplinary research.
