CUHK and CUHK-Shenzhen Hold Online Academic Forum
The Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Science of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) jointly organized an online Academic Forum with the School of Science and Engineering of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) (CUHK-Shenzhen) on 19 February 2022. Professor Martin Wong, Dean of CUHK Faculty of Engineering, and Professor Song Chunshan, Dean of CUHK Faculty of Science delivered speeches at the opening ceremony as officiating guests. A total of 27 scholars from the two universities and three faculties gave talks to exchange views and share research results, covering areas of mathematics, physics, chemistry, materials science, new energy science, computer engineering, communication engineering, robotics engineering and artificial intelligence.
Professor Martin Wong welcomed the participating members and students in his speech and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two universities and the three faculties. He stated that the joint PhD training programme among the 3 Faculties has marked the beginning of a close collaboration. Professor Song said that the two universities shall be able to foster strong linkages in various fields of science and engineering, so as to realize more diversified interdisciplinary collaboration for the partnership development.
CUHK-Shenzhen was established in 2014 as a significant milestone of CUHK in the development of the internationalization of higher education. CUHK and CUHK-Shenzhen took their partnership to the next level through the signing of a new Strategic Collaboration Framework Agreement in 2021. Both institutions are now focused on consolidating this highly successful partnership and the new agreement represents a statement of intent to jointly build a world-class center of excellence in higher education.
