CUHK Holds Exchange Meeting with Huazhong University of Science and Technology
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) held an online meeting on 23 September to discuss collaboration plans. Representatives from CUHK included Professor Chan Wai-Yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Ms. Wing Wong, Director of China Engagement; and Ms. Samantha Wong, Assistant Director of China Engagement. HUST participants included Professor Chen Jian-Guo, Vice President; Ms. Chen Jie and Mr. Sheng Jing-Bo, Director and Assistant Director of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office.
Professor Chan shared CUHK Strategic Plan 2021–2025 at the meeting, followed by discussions on both sides regarding research collaboration talent nurturing and academic exchange. Both universities have been collaborating in a range of cooperation areas and the meeting paved the way for devising new projects to enhance partnership development.
CUHK Holds Online Collaboration Meeting with Peking University
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Peking University (PKU) held an online meeting on 14 September to discuss future cooperation plans. Representatives from PKU included Ms. Zheng Ruqing, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office (HKMTAO); and Ms. Zhou Jing, Director of Student Affairs of HKMTAO. Ms. Wing Wong, Director of China Engagement of CUHK attended the meeting with participating colleagues from CUHK.
The meeting reported the recent development of the two universities and discussed the enhancement of collaborations in research, education programmes, and academic exchanges. The two parties also devised plans to facilitate information flow and faculty mobility and to embark on new development projects.
Since the signing of the academic exchange agreement in 1985, CUHK and PKU have achieved fruitful results in research and development, personnel training, and student exchange. The two universities have established the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of High-Confidence Software Technology and partnered with the University System of Taiwan to build up the Joint Research Centre for Language and Human Complexity. In early 2019, the two universities signed a cooperation agreement on undergraduate dual-degree programmes to cultivate talents in both regions.
CUHK Meets Beijing International Cooperation Center of Science and Technology Online
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) had an online meeting with the Beijing International Cooperation Center of Science and Technology (BICCST) on 9 August. Participants attending the meeting comprised Ms. Wing Wong, Director of China Engagement of CUHK; Ms. Wang Yi-Qi, Deputy Director of Beijing and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Cooperation Center of BICCST; and Mr. Zhang Ze-Hao, Deputy Director of Hong Kong and Macao Liaison Office of Beijing Leading Group for Talented Professionals. Discussions were held on possible collaboration modes for CUHK’s establishment in Beijing.
