CUHK Signs MOU with Foshan Shunde District for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Foshan Shunde Office of the Leading Group for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Shunde GBA Office) and Shunde Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SDIEF) on 12 January 2022. The MOU marked collaborative efforts in establishing the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Innovation Cooperation Centre (the Centre) to be situated in the He Innovation Space in Shunde District.
CUHK Provost Professor Alan Chan remarked in the opening speech at the signing ceremony: “With the establishment of the Innovation Cooperation Centre, we are dedicated to forging a sustainable environment conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship for Shunde and Hong Kong. The Centre will seek to bring synergy with CUHK Hong Kong—Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Research Institute in Futian and CUHK Business School’s initiative in Luohu. Such concerted efforts will help diversify economic development for aspiring entrepreneurs in the GBA, infusing new vibes into strategic development and technological transformation of the region.”
Located in Shunde Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Collaborative Development and Cooperation Zone, He Innovation Space stretches over 3,800m2. The newly established Centre is one of the core projects of He Innovation Space. It will be under the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Centre for Family Business of CUHK in bringing in entrepreneurs, international resources and experience of cross-generational entrepreneurship to foster a sustainable environment for startups.
CUHK Signs MOU with South China Normal University on Legal Talent Training in the Greater Bay Area
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Faculty of Law concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the School of Law and School of Lawyers of the South China Normal University (SCNU) to promote the rule of law in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Dean of the Faculty of Law Professor Lutz-Christian Wolff together with Professor Zhang Yong-Zhong, Dean of the SCNU School of Law and School of Lawyer signed the MOC on 19 January 2022. Both parties will be committed to meeting the needs of training foreign-related legal talents in the GBA. This initiative is part of the achievements under the CUHK Faculty of Law GBA Forum focusing on the training of GBA lawyers, academic exchange on GBA topics and GBA-related research.
Since the establishment of partnership in 1985, CUHK has been in partnership with SCNU in a wide range of collaborative projects including research collaboration and student interflow. The signing indicated an expansion of collaboration to work together in talent nurturing for the development of the GBA.
