CUHK Organizes Pleasure in the Pandemic Joint Performance
The China Engagement Office (CEO) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has organized online show entitled Pleasure in the Pandemic Joint Performance with our mainland partners. The first show was held on 25 March 2022 [click here to view the show] and attracted more than 700 people. The event aims to establish a virtual platform during the pandemic committed to enriching the cultural life of the students by presenting a diverse range of student performances. Students from the two regions can support each other in adversity, maintaining physical and mental health, and to stay positive to respond to the challenges. It takes place on the last Friday of every month via online platform(s). Each show lasts about an hour. The following performing ensembles joined the first show (in alphabetical order):

- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Students’ Choir
- Chung Chi Choir and Chung Chi Orchestra, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
- The Chorus and The Orchestra of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen
- Tsinghua University Symphony Orchestra
- University of Chinese Academy of Sciences PhD Choir
CUHK has maintained close ties with universities in the Mainland and Taiwan. The University participated and co-organized joint cultural activities to forge exchanges between students across the straits, in order to broaden their horizons, discover their potentials and make the best use of their creativity. CUHK Students Win Top Awards in the 17th Challenge Cup National Competition
Students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) swept top awards at the 17th Challenge Cup National Competition held on 28 March 2022. All 5 teams of CUHK students won awards, including one grand award, one first-class award, one second-class award and three third-class awards.
As a bi-annual national competition, the Challenge Cup is known as the “Olympics” in promoting innovation in science and technology for university students in China. Since its foundation in 1989, the Challenge Cup has attracted more than 2,000 colleges and universities from different provinces and cities to participate in each event, and more than 2 million students have joined the competition so far.

Since the competition was open to Hong Kong institutions in 1997, CUHK has won the national Winners’ Cup once and the Hong Kong and Macau Cup for 6 times in total. CUHK strives to encourage and enhance students’ creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship by cultivating their interests and capabilities in research, technological development and transfer. The University also encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration among students from different faculties to pool the best young innovative brains together for synergetic effects.

Outbound activities were not available in this Spring due to the pandemic circumstances. China Engagement Office (CEO) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) continues to organize various online short-term student interflow activities in collaboration with mainland partner institutions, creating learning opportunities for CUHK students.
