CUHK VC Promotes Chinese Traditional Culture
Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) accepted the invitation from the Yangpu District Government in Shanghai as a special guest to create a 150-second recording to promote the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional culture. The recording was broadcast daily on Shanghai People’s Radio Station from 13 to 19 May. It showcased the district’s cultural characters as well as CUHK as a university steeped in Chinese humanitarian values. This initiative also enhanced the impact of university-district collaborative efforts.
Hong Kong Delegation Visits CUHK Shanghai Center to Promote Education Collaboration
On 12 June, Professor Poon Wai-yin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and Mr. Sze Chun Fai Jeff, Under Secretary for Education of Education Bureau, joined a delegation of 40 representatives from Hong Kong’s mathematics and science curriculum, to visit the CUHK Shanghai Center. During the visit, Professor Poon introduced the missions and development of the Center to the delegates. CUHK’s local strategic partner in Yangpu, Penta Institute, shared experiences in creating technological innovation platform and related ecosystem and service in Shanghai. A thematic presentation on international STEM education was also given at the meeting. Discussions were held from both sides on educational collaboration between Hong Kong and Shanghai Yangpu District.
CUHK and Yangpu District Government Hold Collaboration Meeting
Professor Chan Wai-yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), held a meeting with Wang Hao, Deputy District Mayor of Yangpu, at the CUHK Shanghai Center on 25 May 2024. The meeting aimed to bolster the linkage between the two parties through the expansion of collaborative areas. Discussions covered various topics including leveraging the CUHK Innovation Port Shanghai Base (Innoport@Shanghai) as a platform to integrate CUHK’s focused disciplines with Yangpu’s key industrial chains, promoting the transformation and industrialization of CUHK’s research outcomes. Both sides also exchanged views on strengthening educational collaboration and advancing joint talent cultivation, comprising non-degree programmes and internship bases.
