CUHK and Shenzhen Loop Area Institute Collaborate in AI Education and Research
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Shenzhen Loop Area Institute (SLAI) held an agreement signing ceremony on 20 May to formalize a strategic collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The agreement was signed by Professor Isabella Poon Wai-Yin, Provost of CUHK, and Professor Tom Luo, representative of SLAI and Vice President of CUHK (Shenzhen). Professor Chan Wai-Yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; and Mr. K.C. Yuen, Vice President of CUHK (Shenzhen); witnessed the signing.
According to the agreement, CUHK and SLAI will collaborate in a range of initiatives to drive innovation in AI and related technologies, exploring promising research areas, and fostering academic exchange to promote technological advancement. In terms of education, the collaboration will focus on joint training of PhD students, strengthening the pipeline of research talent. Diverse models of faculty collaboration will also be explored to enhance teaching and research engagement, while supporting academic staff in their professional development.
The collaboration will not only enhance cooperation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen but also inject new momentum into AI research and talent development, contributing to a broader vision of regional innovation and academic synergy.
