CUHK Holds 2025 Greater Bay Area Science Forum Distinguished Lecture
On July 25, the “Greater Bay Area Science Forum Distinguished Lecture” co-organized by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Secretariat of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum (GSF) was successfully held in CUHK. Professor Isabella Poon, Provost of CUHK, and Mr. Xie Wei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government and Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Nansha Development Zone, delivered opening remarks at the opening ceremony, both emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary and cross-regional collaboration.
This year, the event invited Professors Tang Benzhong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Lu Zhengtian, distinguished chair professor at the University of Science and Technology of China, to speak on youth talent development, frontier-discipline exploration, and the cultivation of scientific thinking. Their presentations, which showcased the latest research findings and insights, drew nearly 200 young scholars to attend and engage in interflow.
The GSF Distinguished Lecture is a signature activity jointly initiated by the Secretariat of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum and CUHK. The lecture series aims to build an intergenerational exchange platform by inviting leading scholars to share their academic and research journeys, thereby promoting youth talent cultivation and a culture of scientific innovation across the Greater Bay Area, and nurturing a pool of high-quality talent for technological development.
