CUHK Attends 2025 World Digital Education Alliance Conference
A delegation of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) visited Wuhan from 13 to 16 May to participate in the 2025 World Digital Education Alliance Conference. The delegates joined a series of high-level meetings and exchange activities to underscore the commitment of CUHK to advancing digital education and the application of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. Professor Isabella Poon Wai-Yin, Provost of CUHK, and Professor Cecilia Chun Ka-Wai, Director of the Centre for Learning Enhancement and Research (CLEAR) and other representatives attended the Conference.
On 14 May, Professor Poon attended the inaugural meeting of the World Digital Education Alliance Council and the General Assembly of the Alliance. Together with representatives from UNESCO and the Arab League, Professor Poon participated in reviewing the Alliance Charter, strategic work plans, and standardization initiatives aimed at enhancing global governance and cooperation in digital education. The delegation also visited a range of institutions across sectors in basic education, vocational training, higher education, and lifelong learning to gain a deeper understanding of digital transformation practices in China.
The participation not only strengthened the University’s ties with mainland and international education institutions but also reinforced its academic leadership in digital education and AI-enhanced learning. It contributed to a new page of regional innovation and talent development.
CUHK Participates in 2025 Shandong–Hong Kong–Macao Innovation Cooperation Conference to Advance Regional Collaboration
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) took part in the 2025 Shandong–Hong Kong–Macao Innovation Cooperation Conference held on 21 May. Professor Chan Wai-Yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, attended the opening ceremony on behalf of the University and delivered a speech. Themed “Innovation · Synergy · Integration · Future”, the conference featured exhibitions of technological achievements and signing ceremonies for collaborative projects in areas such as artificial intelligence, green and low-carbon technologies, and the digital economy. It brought together government officials and representatives of research organizations, universities, and technology enterprises from Shandong Province, Hong Kong, and Macao.
In his address, Professor Chan emphasized the strong complementarity among Shandong, Hong Kong, and Macao in technological development, industrial advancement, and talent cultivation. He remarked on CUHK’s longstanding partnerships with key institutions in Shandong specifically in 2023, CUHK co-initiated the Shandong–Hong Kong–Macao Higher Education Innovation Alliance alongside Shandong University and the University of Macao, aiming to enhance academic exchange, research cooperation, and knowledge transfer. CUHK will continue its commitment to aligning with national strategies, deepening partnerships across the 3 regions to build a globally influential platform for scientific research and innovation.
