Vice-Chancellor of CUHK Leads a Delegation to Beijing



Professor Dennis Lo, Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), led a delegation to Beijing from 27 to 30 April 2025. The delegation comprised Provost Professor Poon Wai-yin; Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Sham Mai-har; Dean of Law Professor Xi Chao, Dean of Social Science Professor Anthony Fung. They held a meeting with leaders from the Ministry of Education, and visited a number of institutions and universities including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the China Association for Science and Technology, the China Foreign Affairs University the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, to discuss future developments in strengthening international exchanges, deepening educational and research cooperation, nurturing innovative talents and promoting comprehensive, sustained collaboration between CUHK and mainland partners.
During the visit, the University renewed and signed collaboration agreements to pursue new opportunities, including a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and an agreement on academic exchange with Peking University to strengthen partnerships and promote diverse cooperation. Professor Lo also attended a Beijing alumni dinner.to share CUHK’s latest developments and achievements with over 100 alumni.
CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor Visits Chinese Academy of Sciences
Professor Nick Rawlins, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), led a delegation to Beijing on 3 March 2025. The delegates visited the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) to foster academic exchange and explore collaboration opportunities.
Professor Rawlins and CUHK delegates met with Academician Zhou Qi, Vice President of CAS and President of UCAS, to discuss collaboration initiatives. Professor Zhou provided an overview of CAS and the latest developments at UCAS. He expressed his hope for both sides to further deepen the long-term partnership, creating an exceptional research environment and collaboratively cultivating outstanding students with interdisciplinary perspectives and capabilities. Professor Rawlins introduced CUHK’s recent achievements and academic developments. He stated that the University is actively exploring new paradigms for interdisciplinary research and talent nurturing and would strengthen diverse collaborations with CAS and UCAS to promote cross-disciplinary interactions and academic exchanges in the field of artificial intelligence.
Both parties reached several preliminary agreements on enhancing the joint training of students and expanding collaborative modes with established liaison units and a coordinating mechanism.
