CUHK Organizes 2024 Summer School for Mainland Students
The China Engagement Office of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized the 2024 Summer School for Mainland Students from 28 July to 10 August 2024. The response was overwhelmingly good this year and due to the limited quota, 408 students were admitted. Participating students studied and interflowed with students from different mainland universities as well as experienced the learning atmosphere of CUHK. They enjoyed the summer school and benefited a lot from the two-week courses and some extracurricular activities organized by CUHK students, which provided an opportunity to learn from each other and get to know more about Hong Kong culture.
Following the success of the first Greater Bay Area Summer School (GBASS) held in 2020, CUHK organized the second CUHK GBASS in 2021. In 2022, GBASS was renamed Summer School for Mainland Students to expand admission to all partner universities in China’s Mainland and Macao with a greater variety of participation.

Professor Anthony So, Dean of the Graduate School, shared with participating students the research initiatives at CUHK, motivating them to explore the limitless possibilities in research.
The programme provided not only research training at CUHK but also a variety of cultural activities including visits to government departments and landmarks, with a multifaceted understanding of Hong Kong’s unique charm.
To further promote research collaboration between CUHK and institutions in the Chinese Mainland, Macao, and Taiwan, and to assist in nurturing research talent, the China Engagement Office has organized this programme since 2008. To date, more than 1,000 students from the Chinese Mainland and Taiwan have benefited from this placement opportunity in Hong Kong, fostering exchange and cooperation between the regions.
