CUHK Innovation Day 2022
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held the 2nd Innovation Day on 28 October, demonstrating the excellent research results that come from industry-university research collaboration, and promoting the development of an innovation ecosystem on campus. Officiating guests at the opening ceremony included Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Professor John Chai, Chairman of the CUHK Council; Professor Alan Chan, Provost of CUHK; Professor Sham Mai-har, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK; and Professor Benny Zee, Director of CUHK’s Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services.
In response to the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Climate Action Plan 2050 adopted by the government, CUHK scholars from various fields delivered nine thematic sessions, and one keynote talk spanning vaccinology, microelectronics and carbon neutrality, showcasing the fruitful results of the University’s scientific research. Twenty-four booths demonstrated innovative projects from 6 CUHK InnoHK Centers and 17 companies funded by the CUHK Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities (TSSSU) and others.
The China Engagement Office of CUHK set up a booth to introduce innovation and entrepreneurship projects in collaboration with partners in Beijing and Shanghai, including the Preparation Camp for IT Startups, Yang Pu Entrepreneurship Star Competition, and Chaoyang International Talent Entrepreneurship Conference. Preparation Camp for IT Startups is the first collaborative project between CUHK Shanghai Centre and its partner Shanghai Penta Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute.
CUHK Holds National Day Flag-Raising Ceremony
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized a flag-raising ceremony on 1 October to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The national flag was raised alongside the HKSAR flag and the CUHK flag, accompanied by a rendition of the national anthem.
More than 400 guests and CUHK members attended the flag-raising ceremony. They included CUHK’s Chairman of the University Council Professor John Chai Yat-Chiu, Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Rocky Tuan, the University’s senior management team, and representatives from Colleges, Faculties, joint laboratories, research institutes and centers, as well as staff, students and alumni.
