Department of Education, Science and Technology of the LOCPG Visits CUHK
Ms. Shi Li-Chun, Deputy Director and Mr. Zhang Zheng, Researcher of the Department of Education, Science and Technology of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR paid a visit to The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 18 November. She met with Ms. Wing Wong, Director of China Engagement to learn about the recent development of the University. The meeting discussed new initiatives and plans to participate in major national science and technology projects, specifically the role of tertiary institutions in contributing to the national research development taking the unprecedented opportunities in the Greater Bay Area. The delegation next visited the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology and the State Key Laboratory of Research on Bioactivities and Clinical Applications of Medicinal Plants in CUHK. Meetings were held with Prof. Lam Hon Ming, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology, and Prof. Leung Ping Chung, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Research on Bioactivities and Clinical Applications of Medicinal Plants.
Wuxi Chinese Overseas Friendship Association Visits CUHK
To further deepen the collaboration between Wuxi and Hong Kong in technological innovation, talent training, and cultural exchanges, as well as strengthen the integration of the Yangtze River Delta and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Wuxi Overseas Friendship Association filmed “As If An Old Friend Comes” at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Erhu was used as a bridge between Wuxi and Hong Kong to promote Chinese music culture.
The film followed the musical connection in CUHK between two Wuxi celebrities, Prof. Ch’ien Mu, founder of CUHK New Asia College and Erhu musician Mr. Liu Tian-Hua. Ms. Xu Hui from Wuxi and currently Principal Erhu of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra visited New Asia College to trace back the story of Prof. Ch’ien Mu with CUHK, bridging the historical heritage and contemporary meaning of culture between Wuxi and Hong Kong. Prof. Chan Sun On, Head of New Asia College, said that CUHK has absorbed the wisdom of many talents to promote cultural integration. He looks forward to more in-depth collaboration with Wuxi in various fields including research, humanities education, and talent training.
Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School Visits CUHK
Shenzhen Hong Kong Pui Kiu College Longhua Xinyi School Principal Mr. Wu Yuk Chi and Vice Principal Mr. Wong Wai Shing visited The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 4 November. They met with Ms. Wing Wong, Director of China Engagement, and Dr. Kung Hing Ha, Assistant Director of the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. Both parties discussed the application procedures for secondary school graduates from China’s mainland.
