CUHK and Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory Enhance Partnership Development in CUHK Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Research Institute
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory signed a new collaboration agreement for the development of the CUHK Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Research Institute on 19 December 2022. Guests participated in the signing ceremony through a video conference. Representatives from CUHK included Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor and President; Professor Sham Mai-har, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Professor Tsang Hon-Ki, Acting Dean of Faculty of Engineering; Professor Ngai To, Assistant Dean of Faculty of Science; and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of China Engagement. Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory Director, Professor Tang Xiaoou; Professor Qiao Yu and Professor Wang Yanfeng, Assistants to Director and relevant officers-in-charge joined the ceremony.
CUHK has attached great importance to advancing the development of AI research and its applications, which is also one of the key research areas of CUHK’s Strategic Plan 2021-2025. CUHK has identified its research priorities with focus on interdisciplinary research to promote technological innovation and breakthroughs, contributing to the country and the global community. Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory is a national research organization engaging in forward-looking research in AI, with the aim of pooling and nurturing international top talents through national and international collaboration. With joint efforts in establishing and developing the CUHK Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, CUHK and Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory will collaborate to help Hong Kong develop into an international innovation and technology hub by engaging in scientific research as laid down in the National 14th Five-year Plan.
