CUHK Organizes the 13th Chinese Academy of Sciences Academicians Visit Programme cum Lecture Series
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) held the 13th Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Academicians Visit Programme cum Lecture Series from 18 to 21 April on campus. Five distinguished academicians were invited to CUHK this year, including Professor Zhao Yuliang and Professor Yan Chunhua from the Division of Chemistry; Professor Chen Guoqiang and Professor Zhu Yuxian from the Division of Life Sciences and Medical Sciences; and Professor Gong Jianya from the Division of Earth Sciences. They delivered public lectures to share their experience and expertise in their respective fields of research and met with CUHK representatives to discuss collaboration opportunities during their stay at CUHK. The lectures after the pandemic attracted over two hundred people including academics, researchers, and students from CUHK and other universities as well as members of the general public.
CUHK Co-hosts the Biomedicine and Health Sub-forum of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) took part in the Greater Bay Science Forum (GSF) with the theme of “Bringing Wisdom and the World Together” organized by the Alliance of International Science Organizations in the Belt and Road Region (ANSO) during 20 –23 May 2023. The University attended the main forum and co-organized the biomedicine and health sub-forum with Guangzhou Lab and Fudan University. As one of the organizing parties, Professor Rocky S. Tuan, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK delivered remarks at the opening ceremony. Participating CUHK professors gave their sharing on various sessions of the sub-forum under the theme of “Science and Technology for Epidemic Prevention and Healthy Breathing”, focusing on the development of life sciences and the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries in the Greater Bay Area to become a biomedical and healthcare highland with global influence.
Professor Tuan said in his speech that as one of the founding members of ANSO, CUHK will continue to seize the great opportunities in the Greater Bay Area, promote research and educational development, and work with experts and scholars for the development of biomedical and health industries in China and the world.
Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Young Scientists Forum and Inauguration of Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Science and Technology Organization Joint Mechanism
On 12 April 2023 Beijing-Hong Kong Young Scientists Development Summit —Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Young Scientists Forum” was successfully held at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Under the theme of “Stimulating Innovation and Promoting Collaborative Development in Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao”, the Forum attracted nearly 100 participants from Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau, including representatives from science and technology associations, universities and enterprises, followed by a “Young Scientists Salon” in three key areas, including life and health, artificial intelligence, and new materials and new energy. The Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Science and Technology Organization Joint Mechanism was inaugurated during the event to build up a dynamic exchange platform.
