CUHK Rises to 6th in THE Asia University Rankings 2023
The Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2023 have been announced at the gala dinner of the THE Asia Universities Summit, hosted by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) with THE. This year, CUHK has been placed 6th in the rankings, moving up one spot from last year, being the highest position since the launch of THE Asia University Rankings in 2013.
CUHK Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Rocky S. Tuan said, “Our high ranking this year holds special significance given the increasing competitiveness of universities in Asia in recent years. We are thrilled and honored to be acknowledged and stand out among many exceptional peers in Asia. This result once again reaffirms CUHK’s position as a leading institution in Asia and the world. We look forward to building on this momentum and further enhancing our teaching and research excellence to achieve greater heights in the future.”
The THE Asia University Rankings 2023 include 669 universities from 31 countries and regions. The rankings use the same 13 performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, but they are recalibrated to reflect the attributes of Asia’s institutions. The universities are judged across five areas: teaching (the learning environment); research (volume, income and reputation); citations (research influence); international outlook (staff, students and research); and industry income (knowledge transfer).
