CUHK Joins the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau University Alliance Working Group Meeting
The annual Working Group meeting of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau University Alliance organized by the University of Macau was held on 24 March 2023. Ms. Wing Wong, Director of China Engagement of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) joined the meeting on behalf of the University. Ms. Wong served as the moderator for one of the parallel discussion sessions and reported the summary plans consolidated from the participating member universities.
The annual meeting provides an opportunity for representatives of the member universities in charge of alliance affairs to communicate, propose new projects, and exchange ideas on the development of the alliance for the coming year. At the meeting, the development plans of various members were discussed and summarized to be put forward for implementation.
Initiated by CUHK, SYSU and the University of Macau, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau University Alliance was established in November 2016 as a higher education platform that aspires to extend the current efforts of elite universities in promoting academic cooperation in the three regions. The partnership fosters collaboration in various areas including scientific research, student interflow, cultural and innovation exchange as well as policy study. There are now 42 alliance members including 26 universities from the Guangdong Province, 9 universities from Hong Kong, as well as 7 institutions from Macau.
CUHK Attends the 1st Meeting of SHUA 4th Alliance Council
Ms. Wing Wong, Director of China Engagement of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), attended the first meeting of 4th Alliance Council of Shanghai-Hong Kong University Alliance (SHUA) on behalf of CUHK as the Vice Chair of the Alliance Council on 10 January 2023.
At the meeting, each chairman institution introduced the projects open to alliance members in the coming year. Apart from the regular student interflow, academic and faculty exchange activities, Ms. Wong gave a brief outline on a wide range of CUHK’s 60th anniversary celebration series activities, comprising the opening ceremony of CUHK Shanghai Center, 2022 Greater Bay Area Science Forum Distinguished Lectures in July; and the World Philanthropy Forum in Hong Kong in September. Alliance members are warmly welcome to participate and support the activities.
Founded by 8 universities in Shanghai and another 8 universities in Hong Kong in November 2018, SHUA is committed to establishing a closer linkage among member universities, fostering talent nurturing and scientific research collaboration. CUHK has long been in close partnership with universities and research institutions in Shanghai to promote exchanges in a broad range of areas including research collaboration, student interflow and exchange activities.
